The fight - which took place approximately 11:45 p.m., near the intersection of North Shields Street and Laporte Avenue in Fort Collins - involved 10 Colorado State University students and one non-student. Six of the students were Colorado State University football players, but only three were charged.

Witnesses indicated that seven males riding in a white SUV stopped and confronted the victims walking near the 1000 block of Laporte Avenue. Words were exchanged, and five of the males exited the vehicle and allegedly assaulted the four victims. Following a brief physical fight five of the suspects left east on Laporte in the SUV and two left on foot.

9NEWS obtained the 90-page police report. The players say they did not yell out homophobic remarks at another group of guys involved in the altercation. We've also learned in the police report that Donny Gocha, the alleged victim, yelled back at the football players. Officers also mention they obtained search warrants to go into the football players' homes. They report finding what looked like bloody clothes.

All four victims were transported by ambulance to Poudre Valley Hospital where they were treated for numerous injuries. Witnesses indicated the police had broken up a large party in the area just prior to the assault. Two of the students received serious injuries during the altercation.

"I'm so mad about everything," J.D. Haley, one of the freshmen part of the assault, said. "I can't even put it into words. I never even thought this was a possibility."

Gocha was also charged with disorderly conduct. He was one of the two who received serious injuries. It is believed that Gocha's friends were trying to break up the fight and protect Gocha who was knocked unconscious at some point during the incident.

"I'm pretty mad," Gocha told 9NEWS. "I can understand me getting disorderly conduct, but I don't understand how they got the same charge."

Michael Obinna Orakpo, 21, Colton Scott Paulhus, 20, and Nordly Capi, 19, are all CSU football players and are charged with disorderly conduct.

"I am aware of the charges filed today against Nordly Capi, Mike Orakpo and Colton Paulhus. This matter remains under university investigation, and as of this time the status of the student-athletes remains unchanged. I will not have further comment at this time," CSU football head coach Jim McElwain said in a statement.
