Colorado Mills is an all-natural oil seed processor. They are a kosher and organic approved facility and the oils are primarily used in the snack food market.
By using sunflower seeds, the oil is healthier than traditional vegetable oils, according to the company. It is 0 transfat and not genetically modified.
Company officials say that's made Colorado Mills oils very attractive for snack food makers, since several states, including New York and California, have banned transfat.
The company is located in Lamar. That's about 100 miles east of Pueblo in southeast Colorado. That means they're close to wear the sunflowers are grown, reducing costs and allowing the company to form personal relationships with farmers.
Colorado Mills' location is zero waste. Any materials not used for oils are turned into livestock feed.
