That's part of the findings of a new American Red Cross poll. It also found almost a third of parents rejected a potential babysitter due to safety concerns.
The poll found about half of Americans rely on unpaid babysitters, and those who pay shell out anywhere between $6 and $20 per hour.
Something that may be a relief for parents: Colorado ranks fourth in the nation for the number of teens who complete Red Cross babysitter training.
They learn first aid, CPR and childcare skills.
The Red Cross says those with their training stand to make more money as a babysitter.
The Red Cross training courses are open to both teens and adults. To learn more visit: redcross.org.
