It began Monday around 2 p.m. on Dayton Street near 12th Avenue on a report of shots fired.

The officers who first got to the scene discovered the incident happened about 30 minutes before they got there and were told the suspect was last seen going back into the home.

Because of the delay, the officers weren't sure if the man was armed so they contacted SWAT after setting up a perimeter around the home.

After SWAT tried to contact anyone inside, they eventually started a very slow and methodical search of the home. The suspect was eventually found hiding in the attic.

Mario Thomas Lopez came out just after 8 p.m. and was arrested. He is being held for investigation of first-degree assault and felony menacing.
