9NEWS has learned the owner of the vehicle is a mother who turned her 25-year-old son, Dennis Esquibel, into police. Esquibel later confessed to driving the car at the time of the crash, according to sources.
Esquibel was arrested at 2 a.m. Thursday in his home. He was booked on a parole hold, vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident.
Police say two other woman were in the car with Esquibel at the time of the crash.
The victim, Laura McDermott, was walking across South Broadway at East Cedar Avenue when she was hit.

Police found the suspected vehicle in the area of Jason Street and Louisiana Avenue in Denver Wednesday.
According to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Esquibel has several felony drug convictions going back to 2007.
